Unusual “Anton Berg” Gouges
Contributed by Pieter Verdoes
I recently bought a box of Berg lathe tools and carving tools, along with some B&O Liberg carving tools.
Two of the items were very narrow carving gouges. Both gouges appear to be very old. I made a new masur birch handle for the gouge on the right.

Both were marked “Anton Berg”, with no “Erik” and no shark.

The straight gouge is 3.5 mm wide and is slightly scooped. The other gouge is curved at the tip and the tip is slightly scooped. I think that they are small carving tools. I have never seen this blade stamp or model/design before.
