Bahco Ergo 8032 Chisels
Contributed by Dennis McCaigue
This wonderful chisel design is from the mid-1980’s. I believe that this design was inspired by and made to compete with Japanese chisels which were very popular at the time.
Their handles are said to be unbreakable. They have an oval shape aligned with the blade and an end with a large heel for striking. They are made from black polypropylene and have deep ridges which allow air flow that keeps your hand from sweating and offers a good grip. The handles all have the same dimensions which makes a nice transition when switching between different chisels.
I have seen a video, showing that the handle will clear hitting the board, if the blade is laid flat. I have owned a few sets where this was not the case.
The blade widths offered are from 6 to 32mm. They look like silver ingots. They have a sculpted look with raised printing and the Berg/Bahco shark logo, a craqueleur texture, and a gun finish known as parkerizing.
Bahco Ergo 8032 chisels are in very high demand these days and command a premium price.

Hello. Thank you for writing this article, I enjoyed all the info! I have a set of these that are in really good condition, only a few were used and barely used at that. The others are not used. What would be the easiest way to sell them ? Thanks for your time and I appreciate your input !
interested if you still have these..
eBay would probably be easiest if you have an eBay account. Those chisels typically fetch a good price there.
There’s a set of these chisels being offered on ebay.de now. The listing ends on December 11, 2022. 7 chisels unused in original plastic boxes. The price is now at $280.00
